G’day,
Sept 28th 2015. I can't help but mention Sept 28th as it is a significant anniversary for me.On 28th September 1966 the Australian Army said "come with me and we'll turn you in to a soldier". Which they did- A front line Grunt (soldier) up at the pointy end. I would have looked much like one of the blokes below. I climbed this particular ladder numerous times. This particular photo was taken of some 3 RAR diggers in Sarawak, North Borneo in 1965.

The next bird has proved very difficult to identify. Can't ever recall seeing one before but my best guess is a juvenile or possibly a female Pied Honeyeater based on its wing patterns and general body shape. If you recognise it please let me know.

A careful appraisal of the next three photos and a discerning viewer might notice that the Falcon has its lunch, or its chicks lunch, jammed on to a stick just below its perch. It is a budgerigar that is being torn to shreds. Feathers in the Falcons beak are clearly visible in img-1118.

Next door neighbors to the Finch family. She has chicks to feed and do they create a racket when she turns up with a crop full of food. All day both male and female ferried food back to the chicks with an occasional stopover at the rivers edge for a much needed drink. (more later)

I started taking photos of this industrious Finch at 1154 and stopped at 1701. Buggered if I know how many hundreds of photos I took but I kept 51. My camera was set up on a tripod under the caravan awning with a remote device connected. With a remote on a digital camera sitting on a tripod one can get carried away and take reams of film if that description is still applicable?
The story, in film, of the Finch family is not finished yet. More later plus some more of their neighbors the budgies.
